Axle Kits

We know it can be maddening trying to figure out what you need to adapt your White Industries hubs to all the different frame and fork axle types out there.  Hopefully this will help!  *Axle kits are model-specific so make sure you’re looking at the correct chart for your hub.

 

Current model front hubs:

  • All current model CLD, XMR, and Mi5 hubs use 2 styles of axles which are not cross compatible; either a 15mm thru/9mm QR (Quick Release) combo or a 12mm thru:
    • 15mm thru/9mm QR axles use removable 9mm QR plugs so you can use either style with the same axle. The QR plugs have a 2mm hole cross-drilled on the axle end that allows a 2mm hex key to be inserted and used a lever to pull the plug out
    • 12mm thru axles are dedicated for only 12mm thru and do not use plugs to convert to/from either 15mm thru or 9mm QR 
  • If you have a QR version of these hubs and want to convert to a 15mm thru axle, just remove the plugs!  And conversely, if you’re going from 15mm thru to QR with these hubs you just need the QR plugs (QRPLUG).  
  • T11 road hubs and ENO/Track hubs not compatible with thru axles/kits

 

Older model Front Hubs:

  • Older Mi5 hubs may not have the current axles.  If the QR axle end does not have the cross-drilled hole then it’s an older hub and will need a complete axle kit (includes bearings) to convert to 15mm thru or 12mm thru
